The Proprietor of National College, Gbagada, Mr Alfred Aina, has urged parents and guardians not to underestimate the abilities of their children and wards. He spoke on Wednesday during the 63rd Founder’s Day celebration of the college.
He said, “National College has been in existence for 63 years and it has produced well-meaning Nigerians. I feel that parents will help the school by believing in their children’s future and encouraging them to fulfill their dreams.”
Aina said 63 years of remarkable achievements were worth celebrating.
“Education remains the key to national development. I appeal to the Ministry of Education not to focus on government-owned schools alone, but they should also support private schools.
“Education should go beyond grades and certificates. Additional skills are equally required for the total development of a child. Parents should note that if their child is not good in a subject, it does not make him a failure. Always encourage your child,” he added. One of the old pupils, Mr Sola Aina, said the school impacted positively on him.
