Dermatologists, NGO offer free medical in Makoko

A medical relief organisation-Direct Relief has collaborated with dermatologists to create awareness on the Vaseline Healing Project.

During an event held at the Aiyetoro Health Centre, Makoko community, Lagos, the group conducted free medical checkups, diagnosis and administered treatment to the people with different skin problems.

According to the Executive Vice President, Direct Relief, Bhupi Singh, the primary mission of the organisation with the Vaseline Healing Project was to provide free medical checkup, health support and promote better skincare.

“One of the things we are doing in different places is to conduct free training for dermatologists, doctors, nurses, community health workers and at the same time render community health service. This is our first time of coming to Nigeria and we have been very fortunate to work with Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where we had dedicated doctors who worked tirelessly. “

Also, consultant dermatologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Adebola Ogunbiyi, said the skin is external and usually abused. “Skin problems like rashes affect the quality of life. People who have skin problems are ashamed to come out. We enlightened them on skin issues and informed them that there are skin doctors who specialise in those areas and can actually treat them.”
