Ikeja Club donates to Abule-Ado explosion victims, others

Ikeja Club has donated N1 million to the Lagos State government as its support to the Abule-Ado Gas Explosion Relief Fund and provision of palliative stimulus for the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of members of the club at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, Ikeja Club executives, led by the General Secretary, Gbenga Ajisafe, said N500,000 was for the state government as a contribution to the Abule-Ado gas explosion relief fund and another N500,000 for its support for the government’s effort towards providing palliatives amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Ajisafe said the governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had unveiled an N2 billion Emergency Relief Fund for the victims of Abule-Ado explosion in Amuwo Odofin, which occurred on March 15, 2020, with more than 20 people confirmed dead and over 80 houses destroyed due to the impact from the explosion.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary in the Governor’s Office, Mr Ola Musa, while receiving the cheques on behalf of the state government, expressed the appreciation of the governor to members of the club for their valued donation and assured that the funds would be transparently utilised by the governor as evident in his leadership skills in managing the pandemic.
