Stakeholders of the Federal College of Education Secondary School, Akoka Lagos, have advised parents to be caring and pay more attention to their children’s education.
Former principal of the school, Mr Mattew Ishola, who spoke during the 2019/2020 speech and prize giving day and 9th valedictory service, said parents should always be available to encourage their children.
He said, “There is no average person. Your efforts make you average. Parents should be there to encourage their children no matter the amount of school fees you are paying. You must follow-up with them else you won’t get the desired result. This generation has lots of distractions all around. So, they need to be monitored.”
Similarly, special guest of honour, Mr Ganiyu Adegboye, explained that every child has the tendency to be wayward but with right training, they would grow up with good morals.
“Parents should be more committed and focused. Every child has the tendency of becoming wayward, but we should be character builders. It is not only education these children need, they need good training so they can be good examples when they are in the society.”
Acting principal, Mrs. Khadijat Abdul-Salam, also encouraged the students, saying, “Life is full of opportunities; do not postpone what you have to do today. Let the habit of ‘do it now’ become your watchword always. Your attitude counts most in determining your huge success in life.”
Provost, FCE (Technical), Dr Ademola Azeez, appreciated all the stakeholders for the successful completion of the 2019/2020 academic session of the FCE Akoka Secondary School.
