Ogun commend alumni for science laboratory donation

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, has lauded the alumni of Grammar School, Okun Owa, Ijebu in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state for refurbishing the science laboratory in the school.

Arigbabu said this during the inauguration of the ultra-modern science laboratory refurbished and equipped by the old students association of the school.

The commissioner described the old students as the only stakeholders in the school system that give back to their alma mater without expecting any gain in return.

He said the alumni association of the school should be commended for the noble effort which he said was complimenting the efforts of the state government to revamp the decayed infrastructures in the school.

The Commissioner added that the state government programme on education was manifesting, despite the challenges.

The Principal of the junior school and the vice-principal of the senior school promised to make good use of the new facility.

The facility comprises Physics, Chemistry and Biology modern equipment.

The Chairman of the association’s Board of Trustees, Sina Ogunbambo, implored the commissioner to ensure the large expanse of land donated by the host Community to be put into gainful use so that land speculators would not encroach on it.

Ogunbambo stated that the unutilised land was more than enough to comfortably accommodate a tertiary institution.

The National President of the alumni association, Lukman Idris, said the old students decided to refurbish the laboratory when they saw the dilapidated old building housing the facility.

He listed some of the renovation works that the group had carried out on staff quarters in the school.
